Space as Masses of Color
Color Symbolism: Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation. Yellow is the color of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money. Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Purple is associated with royalty. It symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. It conveys wealth and extravagance. White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery
Psychological (impact of color): Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility. To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red. Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity. Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with tranquility and calmness. According to surveys, almost 75 percent of pre-adolescent children prefer purple to all other colors. Purple is a very rare color in nature; some people consider it to be artificial. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. As opposed to black, white usually has a positive connotation. White can represent a successful beginning. In heraldry, white depicts faith and purity. Black contrasts well with bright colors. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme.
Color Mapping: Color mapping (also called tone mapping) can be used to apply color transformations on the final image colors. Sometimes an image can contain a higher range of colors that can be displayed on a computer screen. Color mapping has the task of re-mapping the image values to be suitable for display purposes.

Space as Movement
Circulation: the act of moving through a space or the passage of anything from place to place or person to person
Movement: a change in place or position
Climate: the composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of a region, as temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, cloudiness, and winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years
Season: One of four natural divisions of the year—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—in temperate zones. Each season has its own characteristic weather and lasts approximately three months. The change in the seasons is brought about by the shift in the angle at which the Sun's rays strike the Earth. This angle changes as the Earth orbits in its yearly cycle around the Sun due to the tilt of the Earth's axis. For example, when the northern or southern hemisphere of the Earth is at an angle predominantly facing the Sun and has more daylight hours of direct, overhead sunlight than nighttime hours, it is in its summer season; the opposite hemisphere is in the opposite condition and is in its winter season
Day: a division of time equal to 24 hours and representing the average length of the period during which the earth makes one rotation on its axis
Space: the portion or extent of this in a given instance; extent or room in three dimensions
NOTES: From what I’ve observed, not many people just hang out in the Fine Arts courtyard. Most people walk around the perimeter of the building to shade themselves from the sun. Once in a while I will see students cross the courtyard to use the bathroom or smoke in the open. If we added a shade element, I believe it would encourage people to spend more time in the space. The building seems to be pretty boring. If there were more colors added, it would be a lot more interesting. I think it could be fun to make mannequin artists “painting” the building and hang them in different locations.
